About Me

My name is Julie (julie_d_l) and I live in beautiful Ottawa, Ontario. I have been married for almost five years (we are taking an anniversary trip to Florida in mid May to celebrate! We are HUGE Disney lovers!). I have the two most beautiful girls in the world: Olivia age 4 and Reese age 1. They are the loves of my life and obviously the inspiration behind Lulie Chic! Here they are modelling stretchy bow headbands! The monkey one sold out in a few weeks! And yes, Olivia always smiles this way for pictures! For those with four year olds, I am sure you can relate! lol

About My Shop

Lulie Chic started as a partnership between myself and my best friend Laura (aka tuliptree and now owner of Lulie Decor Designs). She made the frames and I made the bows. It went really well and our first four months were quite successful. Then with my upcoming return to work (I was on Mat leave) and the fact that our product lines were quite different, we decided to split off and create two sister stores. So my shop is filled with hair accessories for little girls! (And incidentally, a customer recently told me that she puts mini clips in her little Terrier's hair!) I started with the basic bow, available in over 30 different colours. Then added some cute and funky patterns (stitching, dots, hearts, flowers, crowns etc). I then ventured into the tuxedo and pinwheel bow and these took off too!

I guess the rest is history! I LOVE finding cool and fun ribbon! I try to have lots of colours and styles available for all occasions. I also make korker bows, mini clips (which are SUPER popular!), I make bows with cool centres and also headbands!

How long have you been on Etsy?

Lulie Chic started in August 2010 but "officially" as a bow shop since January 1, 2011. Time flies when you are having fun!

If you had one wish about your Etsy shop, what would it be?

Ha ha, that is a trick question! Ofcourse I want it to be super successful and make oodles of money so I can quit my real job, stay home to work and spend some time with my kids. BUT, I do LOVE my current job (Human Resources Manager) so it would be a hard choice. Right now, things are going well and I hope it continues!

What are you working on next?

I am very excited to be able to offer the Mini clips is more colours and patterns AND in more quantities! Thanks to one order I am working on for a customer that wanted one in EACH colour, I will be listing bigger sets soon! Then comes SUMMER bows!! :)
