Yesterday was a big day in my house. It was the day my daughter learned how to crawl forward. She had going backward pretty well mastered, but yesterday she conquered her challenge face on.
And now I'm terrified.
Everyone is in such a rush to have babies reach these milestones. My husband and my father in law have been trying to get her to crawl ever since she could sit up.
Not me.
It's not just for the reason that I'm in no rush to see her grow up either (although that's true).

It's because now that she can move, the entire living room is now her playground. And that playground needs a better custodian!
Every time I turn around she's got a piece of stray yarn, a stitch marker or something or other trapped in tiny vice like fists - willing herself how to figure out what each of them tastes like.
No longer can I park her, perfectly content, in her little play area and know that everything will stay in its place, for the most part. Now she could be anywhere, at any time! Earlier tonight my husband said he had her in the living room playing away. He looked away for a second, and when he looked back, my little angel had her hand in the cat food dish. Delightful.
I think I'll have to start knitting in a locked room from now on. Maybe I'll work on knitting up some knee pads while I'm at it.
Wish me luck!
