Saving Babies Lives: Z99 Radio-thon for Regina's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

There are over 750 sick babies in Regina's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) each and every year.

Z99, a local radio station wants to do something to help. And you can too!

On March 17th & 18th CC, two local DJ's will broadcast live from the Cornwall Centre for 36 straight hours to raise funds to purchase essential equipment needed in the treatment of our most precious Saskatchewan resource. On average, 21 fragile newborns and sick babies are born daily and it is still lacking in the crucial equipment for their

well being.

On March 17th & 18th our goal is to raise enough funds to purchase Giraffe Omnib

eds, overbed warmers, blanket warmers and breast milk warmers.

We can help. We can all make difference. But it starts with you!
Trudy, a fellow WB'er and mommy blogger at A Sophisticated Mommy will be hosting an online auction to help raise funds for the NICU here in Regina beginning Friday, March 11th at 12 PM SK time and ending Sunday, March 13th at 8 PM SK time.
When my husband and I found out we were expecting, the thought of our daughter spending time in the NICU had never occurred to us. Zoe was born with pneumothorax, a small hole in her lung had formed shortly after being delivered which resulted in air escaping into her chest cavity. She was taken to the NICU minutes after being born and stayed there for 2 days. While our visit was short and many babies end up staying much longer, Zoe received amazing care during her stay. We are forever grateful to the kind nurses, doctors and wonderful equipment that was available to us. She is
now an extremely healthy and active 9 month old! Please make sure to visit http://asophisticatedmommy.blogspot.com/2011/03/saving-babies-lives-raising-money-for.html for more information on my friend Trudy's fundraiser. She will be updating the list of sponsors and adding more details about the auction in the coming days.
The actual auction will take place on Trudy's facebook page:
I suggest "liking" her page and following her blog to stay up to date with all the details. She has pictures up of all the items up for auction so far. If you had intentions of donating to this wonderful cause, why not participate in this auction and get some goodies for yourself while you're at it! Sponsors are from all over the world, many of the sponsors are covering shipping of their items to the highest bider so even if you aren't from Regina, don't be shy to bid on some items!
There is also still time to donate items to auction off. No matter what you do, whether it's an at home hobby, photography, designer, hair stylist, esthestician, massage therapist, at home sales business, services, items, gift cards, coupons, all donations are welcome! If any of you have items or services you would like to offer you can contact Trudy on her facebook page or email her at trudylk@hotmail.com
More information can be found on Z99's webpage: http://www.z99.com/z-cares
Here is a list of talented WB'ers who are donating to our cause so far! The full auction list also currently includes some local crafter's, Tupperware, lactation services, and photography services which can all be seen on A Sophisticated Mommy's Facebook page.
Thanks for taking the time to read and I hope I can count on the wonderful WB community to support this cause!
