Heartfelt Yarn Wreaths' First Craft Show!

Good afternoon, my friends!

As some of you may know, I participated in my first-ever craft show this past weekend!  I spent months preparing, scouring thrift stores, creating my display, making wreaths like mad, and nearly losing all nerve sensation in my fingertips due to so very many glue gun burns (ok, a bit of an exaggeration about loss of sensation...but the rest is all true).

So, on a very windy Friday afternoon, I took my show on the road and got my craft show booth set up for the very first time!  Want to see some photos?  Twist my rubber arm!

There it is in all its glory.  I came up with the idea after being inspired by a booth by Cody's Creations (ps: just purchased my pup a very adorable collar from this seller a month ago).  I wanted my booth to have a light, airy feel, and I have a thing for non-visually overwhelming displays with lots of height.

I told my ever-wise hubby of my idea, and he made it happen.  It is made from PVC pipe, spray paint primed, spray painted, and then clear coated to protect it from damage (or my own clumsiness).  We glued it all together to reinforce all of the joints, but a set up like this (on a smaller scale) could certainly be very portable.

Hubby did the spray painting of the booth.  I had purchased a vintage photo frame from Good Will, and convinced Hubby that I had the self-control and talent to spray paint it myself.  I did pretty well at first, but then it all went down the tubes and I wrecked it.  So, the morning of the craft sale, I was madly scouring my house for frames and snagged the one pictured above which had previously housed a few wedding photos.  The old photo frame only had two spots to fill, while this one has four....needless to say, I did some quick work on Micosoft Word (my fav) and all was well once again.

Here is a closeup of my wreaths in action.  I wrote the name of each wreath on the tag, as well as the price.  They were super cute, and a wonderful purchase from BeeCreative2.

Here I am, standing proudly with my booth!  I am 5'11", and with my little kitten-heel boots (which I'm super pumped that I made it through the day in), am just over 6'.  So, once my booth set up was on the table, it measured probably 5'5" tall.  Ish.

If you follow my personal blog, you'll know I have a thing for bunting.  I think it is the most cheerful thing ever.  I decided to get crafty and make myself some bunting in one of my favourite colour combos: aqua and red.  I was pretty pleased with how it turned out, and definitely added to my booth!  The table cloths are really just flat bed sheets.

In the weeks (ok, nights) leading up to the show, I decided to really work on developing the accessory line of my business.  Though not yet in my Etsy shop,  I do have a full line of hair bands and felt-flower bobby pins.  I was glad I spent the time to develop them, because they were hot sellers at the show!  Of course, the full and mini size Dahlia brooches were in attendance too.  They found their homes on two vintage dessert stands I had picked up from various thrift stores.  The wooden display shelf (visible in this picture), was a Kijiji purchase (another love of mine).  I plan to use it in my kitchen while it is not in its craft show mode.

In the weeks leading up to the craft show, I also worked on lots of new wreaths!  I am busy adding them to my Etsy shop this week.  Take a peek for yourself!

I had such a blast at the craft show, and made a few bucks to boot.  Also, I got "scouted" for two other craft shows!  How exciting is that?

Well, friends, if you want more of my ramblings, be sure to check out my blog, or my Facebook page.  For more pictures (and less rambling) of my wreaths, visit my Etsy shop.

Happy Wednesday!

  2. Great booth! I make wreaths as well (not yarn ones...I will leave that up to professionals like you)...I have been doing shows for a year now using japanese grid screens for display, but think your set up is really eye catching. Some of my wreaths are pretty heavy and I wonder if you think the display would fall over forward from the weight?

    Thanks,
