This week Love, From Nora was featured in a "10 Prudent Handmade Shops for Baby" post by blogger Jacinda of Prudent Baby. Prudent Baby is, by far, one of the best blogs out there for crafty moms. From naptime crafts, to DIY for the home, to Jaime's book, Prudent Advice: Lessons for My Baby Daughter, I love everything about Prudent Baby. (And if I sound like a gushing teenager in 1990 who just ran into Joey McIntyre on the street - it's because that's how excited I was!) I'm not the only WBer who enjoys a good dose of Prudent Baby. Remember AlysAndFelix's recent post about fabric? There was some PB love in there as well :)
Anyway, back to the point. I thought I would take a break from the regular etsy programming to share with you a dress I made for Miss Nora from the Prudent Baby tutorial, The Snappy Toddler Top.

The tutorial is super easy to follow with lots of clear instructions for beginner sewers.
I made a few alterations to the tutorial, including: adding a few inches on the bottom to make it a dress, using buttons instead of snaps, making the bias tape visible around the arms, and adding a white border on the bottom of the dress.
Here it is on the model:
Couldn't you just eat those cheeks?

Hope I got your creative juices flowing! Go create something!
Love, love, LOVE it! I finally got all of my fabric I posted about last time & am just trying to figure out which fabric to use for which project. How would you rate it on a scale of 1-10??
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't replied Steph! I'd put it low on the scale, but it depends on how comfortable you are. I know you did an awesome job with the pillowcase dress, so I think you'll find this one easy. The only parts that are tricky are the buttonholes if you're using them and making sure the collar lines up with the dress. I'd love to see pictures if you make one!! :)
