Just yesterday, I celebrated 1,000 sales on Etsy!
I took a minute to reflect back on the last 2.5 years on Etsy and how my shop grew.
What started off as a hobby, is now a full time job...something that has grown and flourished like a magical flower.
I STILL do a happy dance when I get that email that says "Notification of payment received".
To have customers pay money for your design...its a high, that NO drug in this world can give you (well, at least I am sure...since I've never tried drugs).
The last 2.5 years, I have laughed with my customers, rejoiced and been happy with those buying for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and "just because" occasions.
Each purchase my customer makes is magical.
They give me inspiration and encouragement to keep going.
Then, there are those purchases where customers have cried with me and have shared sad details that make my heart break.
Brittany's order was one of those.
Brittany contacted me on Etsy to see if I could add an extra pearl to the necklace with the angel wing pendant.
I said, OF COURSE and she made the purchase.
Brittany then shared with me that the necklace represents not only 1 angel baby...but 2.
I finished her necklace and took a look at it.Something about it just didn't seem right.
The angel wing was partially covered by the pearls and it just seemed so cluttered.

I e-mailed Brittany and showed her the necklace and told her that I could do it differently.
I told her that I wanted this to be PERFECT for her.
That's how this creation was born.
I love it.
I think it looks perfect now.
Brittany LOVED this version much better than the last and I felt better about it.
I might be doing this for only 2.5 years but every day, I get a reminder why I do what I do.
Brittany's order reminded me that this is why I advocate "handmade" and what it represents.
You can't walk into a store and get something created especially for YOU...well, at least not what you will pay for in my shop. lol
Mine and many other creations are made with love...with time and with so much thought.
It's MAGICAL to be a part of your customer's happy occasion but its extra special to give a customer hope, faith and comfort when they are going through a rough time.
To know that a customer has chosen YOUR design, YOUR art...to wear to give them strength and encouragement....its a feeling that is indescribeable.
So, at this time, I would like to THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
If you purchased something in the last 2.5 years from our shop, you were one of the magical 1,000 sales that brought a smile to my face and joy to my heart.
A beautiful necklace and a very touching post!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 1000 sales, K! It's certainly because of your personal touch that people like me keep coming back to buy, and buy again :)
Congrats on you 1000 sales!
