About Me

Hello! I’m Laura, founder of Lulie Decor Designs. I’m WAHM, married to an amazing husband (six years!) and mother to a sweet little girl who’s almost three.

How Did My Shop Start?

My best friend Julie and I started Lulie Chic Boutique together last year. We had a blast working together but with Julie finishing her mat leave and us not quite living next door to each other (we should have planned that better!) we decided to split into two shops. If you haven’t checked out her adorable hair bows and headbands, stop by her shop Lulie Chic. She has the cutest stuff and new styles for every season!

After being a SAHM for couple years I was looking for a creative outlet and an activity to get my brain working. I sort of fell into making these frames and I don’t mind telling you that my first prototypes were pretty dismal! But I quickly honed my technique and called upon my graphic design and layout knowledge from my previous career in marketing and ad design.

I have so much fun coming up with new styles, searching for new fonts, and designing new layouts. And of course shopping for paper! I search online until my eyes go blurry and I agonize over each and every sheet I select. I tend to gravitate towards pretty, elegant patterns like paisleys, damasks, and florals.

I also really enjoy working on completely customized frames. My customers have such cool ideas for frames! It’s so enjoyable to go through the design process with them and see the one-of-a-kind finished product.

What is my favourite material?

Paper!!

What are my 3 favourite items from my shop?

I love my Family frame. This leafy paper reminds me of my early fall wedding. This reminds me that I need an updated photo for mine. (That’s me and my family in the photo. ;) )

My Newborn Baby frame is very popular and it holds a special place in my heart after being featured on an HGTV Christmas special last year. It’s famous!

My Happily Ever After frame was one of my first designs and I still love it. It was originally made for my friend, a real-life Cinderella.

What are your last 3 etsy purchases?

This fantastic growth chart for my nephew from Farmhousefive. Love it.

This pretty necklace for me from Buysomelove. Gorgeous.

My very latest purchase is this fun hot pink tote from Fantella. I can’t wait to get it!

What was your last non-etsy creative pursuits?

My professional background is in Marketing and I previously worked for a distance education interior design school. Home decorating is my other passion and when I’m not crafting I’m busy thinking up new ideas for redecorating. I recently stenciled a gold damask pattern all over my bedroom walls. Let me tell you – that was more work than I anticipated! Next up – the spare bedroom and my daughter’s big girl room!
